On the 20th of June, 2019, Jeno Creatives conducted its first-ever campus placement, and to the delight of everyone, the event was a grand success. The event took place at GNIT, where students from four different colleges of the JIS Group, namely JISCE, GNIT, DSCSDE, and NIT took part. Final year students of B Tech, CSE, IT, and ECE were invited to sit in the placement board.
To kickstart the event, Rakesh Khamkar, the COO, shared a pep-talk with the candidates while giving a speech on what Jeno’s mission is, what they do, and most importantly, how the candidates taken on-board would contribute to the growth of the organization. He also took the opportunity to mention the norms, the duty hours and other perks while sharing a glimpse of the organizational work-culture through a presentation.
The criteria for the selection was a minimum of 55% marks, without backlogs. It was communicated that on the successful completion of the entire selection process, candidates would be hired as “Trainee Software Engineer”. The selected candidates, who would join as trainees, will usually perform small programming jobs initially and they will be working under the close supervision of a software developer or a lead programmer, and later they will be assigned small programming tasks. The desired skills for the trainees included good programming and logical skills, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), passion about technology and comfortability with learning new systems, and excellent presentation, networking and negotiation skills.
A lot of candidates turned up for the campus board. Aptitude test, group discussion session, technical round and HR round were the four steps that candidates had to pass through. While less than half of the candidates were rejected after the Aptitude test, the remaining students were divided into four groups. Next, the technical round was taken by two different teams, and only a handful of candidates passed through that. Finally, they were taken through the HR round, after which four students were finally selected who were asked to join once they get their final mark sheet. It has to be mentioned that throughout the selection process, the members on behalf of the GNIT team were extremely co-operative, and they specially helped organize the GD round.
The hospitality of the JIS group was really noteworthy as they offered a warm welcome to the team of interviewers and helped them thoroughly, as and when needed. Right from greeting the team with refreshments and arranging comfortable waiting lounge for them, to ensuring a sumptuous lunch and taking care of every single detail, they did a seriously wonderful job. Overall, it was quite a gratifying experience over there.
The infrastructure of GNIT is quite impressive as the campus is equipped with all the necessary amenities including conference halls, seminar rooms, auditoriums, and activity areas. Although it might sound that all of these amenities are not equally functional, but that’s quite not the case. For instance, the auditorium offered an excellent opportunity to meet all the candidates at once, motivate them about their career, and encourage them about the campus interview while explaining the details of Jeno Creatives at length. This, in turn, encouraged the candidates to give their best, and as a result of this, the event turned out to be a grand success.
